Cathedral

The cathedral was begun by King Ferdinand III and Archbishop Rodrigo Jimenez de Rada in 1226. There are 40 chapels inside and a series of paintings by El Greco, Francisco de Goya, Sir Anthony Van Dyck, Luis de Morales, and others. The cathedral towers above the narrow streets of Toledo (far left image) and there are elaborate carvings and statues inside and outside.

Other sights of Toledo

There were too many attractions for us to see in the short time we spent in Toledo. We tried to see a El Tránsito synagogue, but it was closed the day we were there. We did get to see the Juan de los Reyes monastery. Inside the monastary there were orange trees full of oranges on the patio.
